Battery Backup

Turn your home into your own generator AND supplier with a battery backup.

Solar power systems are great, and they will save you a lot of money in the long run. The problem with solar power is simple: what happens when the sun’s not shining? That’s where a battery backup system comes in.

How does it work?

Currently, solar power systems turn sunlight into electricity and power your home. It’s simple, it’s efficient and it’s cost effective. The downside is, that electricity is either used or it’s lost. Any surplus electricity your solar panels produce is sent back into the grid, buying you ‘credits’ with the electricity company. These are then bought back when you need them, eg at night or when it’s cloudy.

With a battery backup, you don’t lose that extra power. Any surplus electricity is stored in a battery, allowing you to use it again when your panels aren’t producing enough to meet your needs. If your battery is full, only then does your power get sent back into the grid, or conversely, when your battery is empty, only then do you use the grid’s electricity.

Why use a battery backup?

A battery backup can reduce your demand on the grid by an astonishing 75%, saving you thousands of dollars in the long term. The average power bill in Australia has more than doubled in the last 10 years, and by generating and storing your own electricity, you can become more self-reliant, protecting yourself against future power increases.

Solar power is a renewable energy and doesn’t damage the environment by burning fossil fuels. It is estimated that by 2030, half of all homes in Australia will be energy self-sufficient. This means that it’s going to cost more and more to run traditional power sources, and that cost is going to be passed on to the consumer.
